Evaluations:

Magazine:

First, I did a mind map to decide on what to do for this part of the brief. There were many ideas, such as landscape, nature, urban, portraiture, etc... And after writing all of the ideas down, I decided to go for a fantasy landscape idea. I found it easy to do because of all the glens on the Isle of Man and that there is plenty of landscape and nature.
I wrote a list of places of where to go and take pictures and the majority of them were glens. Mainly the ones which were close to me and my world.
For example: Tholt-y-Will Glen is near Sulby, which is where I live and the Mountain is close by there too. Also, there is Ballaglass Glen, which I find is very fantasy like and lets my imagination run wild.
So, I went out during a weekend to take pictures. I got what I thought were the best ones that showed fantasy in them. Such as the small hut made out of sticks and twigs and the wooden statue of a storyteller. And the "Beast of Ballaglass Glen" as well.
After that, I went on InDesign and started my magazine. I wanted my audience targeted as photographers, mainly landscape ones. It could be ranged at any age, really... probably those who like fantasy.
Anyway, I made a layout and chose the correct pictures which I thought would work in the magazine. And since I want a fantasy-like magazine theme, I needed a title and I went for "A Mind Full of Fantasy". I used a font (can't remember the name...sorry) that looked almost Manx/fantasy like. I liked it, because it showed up well on the photo that I chose on the first spread. I chose the photo of the Storyteller of Ballaglass Glen for the first spread because it looked as if he was waiting for someone to come.
Now, what went right about this part of the project...? Well, the photos worked the best in this project, because they were very successful and fitted the whole topic/theme that I chose.
And what went wrong? The magazine isn't finished...!! But I do have research and idea generations to support it~!
And if I ever need to improve this... I would actually finish the magazine.

Myself in a Movie:

I had to decide what was gonna happen with this part of the project. I've already based the magazine on me... so why not base the movie on my alter ego, Seth? So, I did some research on abstract animations and sounds and found a few that I liked. I saw two animations that I liked and I really want to try and make my animation like them.
Firstly, I did some mind maps on Seth to find some sort of idea for the animation/movie (you can find this in my sketchbook). There are many things about him, such as his different moods: intelligent, angered easily, murderous, etc... and his main occupation: Being a cyber ghost of some sort.
Then, I started to make the sound for the movie, calm at first, but then is gets all digitilised and noisy, suggesting that Seth's battling his evil side. I chose to do the sound on GarageBand and used different instruments that I've never used/heard of before, such as Big Saw Bass, SoCal Kit drum, SoCal Kit Cymbol, Delicate Bells, Massive Saws (bass) and Hoover Bass (the basses are very loud...!!).
After completing the sound, I moved onto the storyboard. I did it all on Photoshop and it may look confusing, but it was only a rough, as I never got to finish the actual movie... mainly because of computar problems and Adobe Audition playing up on me (shutting down and rebooting, freezing up...) and so was Adobe After Effects, so I never got the work finished.
However, if I were to finish this, the movie would have been like the research examples that I have put in the ideas part of my movie blog. Moving pictures, static, glitches and maybe some speech, too.
To improve with this, I would have finished he movie and actually complete the storyboard in full detail. Also, the audience for this project would have been for music/animation lovers.

Package Myself:

Now, all of this project has been about me (and Seth). The last two projects were us two seperated, but I'd decided for this part of the project to do both me and Seth. I did some research on different packaging designs and mixed media productions (since we had to use some sort of mixed media stuff in this project) and I found some that I liked (you'll find them on my blog) and wrote about what I liked about them and analysed them.
Then, after all of my ideas and mindmaps, I came up with two ideas:

-Either make a box for a pack of cards...
-Or make a package for a chess game...

After doing five designs for each idea, I decided to do the chessgame package.
(Please see my sketchbook for this)
Then, I went into making the chess game: Queen vs King, where you only get the queen on one side and the king on the other side. So, I chose which design I liked and worked on that design. Then, I made it on Photoshop (search on the blog for the step-by-step post).
I made up the How-to-play instrucions and placed them onto the package design.

However, I didn't get to MAKE the actual package, so for improvement, I would finish the product and print out the package.
But, I really liked this part of the project, as I NEARLY completed it...

If only I had printed out the package dsign, made it and made some sort of a chess board (which I had decided to design as a treasure map/ old-fashioned map, which you'ld have to roll up and put it in the package, which would have been a cylinder like shape).

Analysations:

Galactic Raptor:
This abstract animation is very futuristic and the sound may be computarised, but it's still efective, as it fits well with the animation. The animation consists of shapes, mainly squares, performing some sort of static dance. As the amiation continues, the shapes become more static and complex, finishing with three cog-like shapes, moving sideways-left of the screen.
This is my absolute favourite animation, and even though I may not be able to make an animation like this... It's still amazing to watch!

Percussion in colour:
In this animation, there is percussion sounds and starts of with one shape (a square made out of rectangles) and as the animation continues, more shapes join in and starts to get more noisy.

Crystal Tunnels:
This maybe only short, but I really like it. Although I won't be able to make this type of animation, it's still really amazing to watch. It has music and singing with it and there are alot of bright colours.

Particle Tests:
The music that comes with this animation is so beautiful and lovely. It goes well with the animation, as the animation shows a lot of beautiful colours and futuristic-like shapes and structure. The music also sounds computarised and on the whole, it's beautifully made.

Idea:

I want to do an animation/music movie about my alter ego, Seth.
And since he's a... cyberghost of some sort, I decided to do a cyber-like film.

And I am no good at doing film, so an animation would do for me~

I want to do something like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpViZkhpPHk

And this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yd_5JC8lE00

But that would take too long...!!

Here are some pictures that I would like to use in the animation:

Text

More text...

Static...

More Static...

Face off

Seth (normal)

Seth (insane)

even more text...

Seth (archdeimon)

Seth (crying)

some more text...

loads more text...

lots of text...

And I'm using Adobe After Effects CC to make my video...

This is as far as I have gotten, so far...:

I've had a few problems:

But... I'm not that sure that I'll be able to finish this part of the project... But I've done some sound to it~
Just need to finish the sound, that's all...!!

Here's the sound:

file:///home/col63004/Desktop/Cyber%20-%2012_16_15,%2010.14%20AM.m4a

These are the instruments/sounds that I had used:

Big Saw Bass
SoCal Kit drum
SoCal Kit Cymbol
Delicate Bells
Massive Saws (bass)
Hoover Bass

I hope it dosen't sound too bad for you...

Magazine:

Magazine spread research:

This is only one page, but still, there is a lot
of things on here. There two pictures overlap,
both being bright and colourful, and the text
may only be in simple paragraphs, but it's clear
to read and understand. I think this magazine is
 targetted for holidaymakers.
I really like this spread, because it is mainly one
huge photograph and it's clear to me that this is for a landscape
magazine. And there is one small paragraph at the top right,
making this spread look easy to make. I think this is targetted for
landscape photographers.
This lion looks very humourous, because his mane is brushed/blown back. I really like this spread, because even though the picture of the lion fills almost all of it, the text  still explains a lot of the information. And the heading is very African-like. This ne, I thinnk is maybe for those who like animals... wild animals. Plus, photography.

My idea:

Since this magazine/photography project is about "expressing myself"... Then, why not express myself with nature and animals?

For example:
I'm a cat person, so why not take pictures of my cats?
Then, I could take pictures of my favourite landscapes/places. Like the Wildlife Park (there is a playground there called "The Enchanted Wood", which is like a fantasy place... I'm into Fantasy) or any of the Glens on the Isle of Man or maybe add some other things that reflect on who I am... Although I can't really show my Alter Ego, Seth.
 Sorry, Seth...!!

Places that I could use in my project:

Ballaglass Glen - Fantasy-like. Where "The Beast of Ballaglass Glen" lives.
Silverdale Glen - Where my written stories of alien fantasy began.
Peel Castle - Isn't it obvious? Ol' Moddey Dhoo lives there!
Wildlife Park - "Enchanted wood" playground, wild animals, cafes, etc...!!
Sulby Reservoir - It's close to my home village.
Tholt-y-Will Glen - A glen close to home. It gave me inspirations to write and illustrate a story that I did last year for the summer project: "Fynn and the River Serpent".
Cronk Summark - Landmark in Sulby named by the Vikings/Celts.

Here are some screen shots of my work in process:

This is my absolute favourite spread page.  Mainly because of the photo that I used in it.

This still nedd development...

So does this...

And this does as well...
All done on InDesign~

Here's an update on one of the pages:

Still need to finish this...
I de-sized the images from "big" to "smaller...?" And I found some text that looked like Manx writing (in a way). The columns are different sizes, because of all the "fitting-the-pictures-into-the-right-place-as-well-as-the-text", but it all looks fine to me...
Now to do the rest of the magazine...!!

Package yourself:

10 packaging designs:

Oh so dapper...!! Sorry. I had to.
Anyway, I really like this, because it's a very
simple design and the text matches with the colour of the produce.
And I really like the moustache and monocle~

I really like this one, because the design
looks so simple and easy to do. The colours are
bright and though it's mainly green, it shows the
audience the main theme of the design and product
I'm guessing that these are take-away packages for a foreign food restaurant (maybe Chinese, Japanese, Indian, etc...!!). I like it, because it looks very exotic and also ancient...?
But I still really like it.

10 Mixed Media Portraits:

This mixed media portrait is mainly made out
of wallpaper and written letters. It looks simple, but
I probably won't be able to compare to this.

This one, I think, is made out of paints and letters.
It looks really nice and I might be able to do this.
But... not as good as this, though.

There are mainly cut-out pictures
stuck onto paper and drawn on to make
the portrait. It looks complicated.

Here are some work that we've been doing:

Just a few designs of me and Seth as different favourite things. Seth and mascot are wondering what is going on on this page... whilst I'm loving it.

I really hate this... the bottom cat looks... evil.

Here are some line portraits of me and Seth... I didn't have a reference for him, so I did it out of my mind... sort of.

Ah, the three monkeys: Hear no, See no and Speak no evil... I really like doing stuff like this. It really shows my inner weirdness... I cut out different letters from a magazine and placed them in the right places (after -of course-placing masking-tape onto the specific areas). I wrote on some words (no, hear, speak, see, evil) to add to the picture/collage.

My idea:

I had two choices: Either something for a chessboard or a pack of cards.
I designed 5 ideas for each one and I finally chose the chessboard idea. I developed one of the ideas that I had.

(Please see my sketch/logbook for that...)

I wanted to have a treasure map styled chessboard, so I had to design a cylinder box for it. As for the artwork for the box... I wanted to create a different type of chess (and since this whole project is about expressing myself), so I made up a chess game where it would be me and my "army", verses my alter ego, Seth, and his "army", and I called it "Queen vs King".

I want to make me and Seth as chess pieces, but I don't think I'll have enough time to do that...!! I'm not sure if I'll be able to make the chessboard either. Just the box...!!

And this is my net:

It looks complicated to do, but it will be done...
I hope.

And this is a further development of it:

I used a paper texture that I found and multiplied the layer, making it look like this.
hen, I found another paper texture and used it for the instructions.
Finally, I wrote instructions on it. Still needs work, though...!!

I now have the steps-of-the-process-of-this-net~:

1. Started out as a blank.

2. Then, I added the net outlines, using the line tool in photoshop. Black colour for the outline, green for the folding.

3.Then I added one of the paper textures in, since I wanted to make my package somewhat of a  treasure map or like an olden-day, royal object/item

4. Then I added another paper texture (white) for the instructions.  I shrank down the size of it, to make it fit into the centre frame.

5. Then I added the same paper texture to cover up the bottom of the said section (above).

6. Then I added the instructions. I wrote the "Queen vs King" title in different handwriting to show the opposite sides of my world: Me vs Seth (my alter ego).

7. Then I added two more small paper textures for the top and bottom, writing the text on the top one.

8. Then I decided to add a company logo/website to the bottom. Does the logo seem... familiar~?

9. Then I drew the two "royals", as we should call them in this: Me (on my left) and Seth (on my right). I chose the colours that suited each of us (I mainly like the turquoise-like colours, whilst Seth likes mainly gold, red and blue).

10. And finally, I drew on the chessboard on either side of the "royals". Turquoise represents me. Gold represents Seth.

All of this is done on Photoshop CC 2015.
